Prerequisites steps for SAP Mobile Services

In this blog, I have listed down few prerequisites if you like to know, if you are to learn more about SAP Mobile Services.

Create your individual SAP Cloud Platform Trial account:

·       Register for SAP Cloud Platform Trial account

·       Enable SAP Web IDE Full-Stack service and add Mobile Services App Development Tools extension

·       Enable Mobile Services, users in Neo Trial

·       Create a Cloud Foundry account and enable Mobile Services in Cloud Foundry (CF) Enviroment

·       Create a destination to connect to Mobile Services (CF) from SAP Web IDE (Neo)

Register for SAP Cloud Platform Trial account

·       Open https://account.hanatrial.ondemand.com, click the Log On. 



·       If you have an account on www.sap.com (e.g. an S, C, D or I number) you can enter it or the associated e-mail along with your password.
If you don’t have an account yet, you can select one of the other login methods or click Register to create an account.



·      
If you clicked Register in the previous step, you will see a Register dialog. Fill in the required fields, and click Register.

·       






·       You get the message that an e-mail for activating has been sent to you.



·       After activating your account, you will see the following screen.
Click Continue.

·      



After activation, or if you already had an SAP account, go to the SAP Cloud Platform Trial (
https://account.hanatrial.ondemand.com/) page and click Log On.

·      





Assuming you don’t already have an SAP Cloud Platform trial account, you will see an Upgrade your account for SAP.com dialog.
If so, fill out all fields and click Register.
This simply adds the SAP.com registration to your login account on SAP Cloud Identity. There is no cost associated with this registration.






Once you have accepted the Terms and Conditions and registered, the SAP Cloud Platform Regions page will load.

 

Enable SAP Web IDE Full-Stack service and add Mobile Services App Development Tools extension

On the Cockpit Homepage click on Neo Trial.



Go to Services.



In the service catalog, search for Web IDE and select the SAP Web IDE Full-Stack service.



Once the service page loads, enable the service.
This may take a few minutes.





Wait for the status to change to the green, Enabled status.



Once the service is enabled, click Go to Service.
This opens the new, full-stack SAP Web IDE.



Open Preferences window by clicking on the gear icon and click Extensions.



Search with mobile to find required extension Mobile Services App Development Tools, toggle it to ON and choose Save.

This extension is used for creating and developing Mobile development kit and SAP Mobile Cards based applications along with creating backend OData service (from Scratch) that provides capabilities enabling you to quickly build an mobile enabled OData service that constitutes your mobile back-end service for mobile applications.



Click Refresh to reload the SAP Web IDE page for the changes to take effect.




Enable Mobile Services, users in Neo Trial

Note: Before you start to generate your service, please assure that you enable Mobile Services, users in your Neo trial account. This is required to generate Mobile OData Service (you will learn more about this in course week 2)
Follow this 
link and click Neo Trial > Services > click Mobile Services, users and enable it, if not done before.

 

Create a Cloud Foundry account and enable Mobile Services in Cloud Foundry (CF) Environment

Start the SAP Cloud Platform page https://account.hanatrial.ondemand.com/ and choose Cloud Foundry Trial as type of account.



Clicking on the Cloud Foundry trial link will bring up the Start Cloud Foundry Trial dialog box. Choose Europe (Frankfurt) region.



You will then see a dialog box while the account is set up. When complete, the dialog box will look like this. Click Go To Space to continue.



A Cloud Foundry space is the logical container of your runtime artefacts such as Applications, and Service Instances.

The Applications tab is where all of your applications will be listed, and new applications can be added in to your Cloud Foundry runtime environment.



Click on user trial as highlighted in below screenshot.



Click Entitlements > Edit.



Scroll down and look for Mobile related services and click the + icon to assign one entitlement to each feature. There are in total 14 features for Mobile Services.



Once you are done, scroll up and click Save.

You will find Mobile related services in Service Marketplace.
Click Subaccounts.



The trial account contains one subaccount and space. Click trial.



Click Spaces.



A Cloud Foundry space is the logical container of your runtime artefacts such as Applications, and Service Instances.

Click dev.



Click Service Marketplace.

The Service Marketplace is where you can find services to attach to any of your applications. These services are provided by SAP Cloud Platform to make it easier to create, and produce, web applications quickly and easily. Once a service has been created, we call it a service instance.



Click any of Mobile tile.



Click Support to open the SAP Cloud Platform Mobile Services Cockpit.



Make sure to select related Organization and Space information and then click Open for the assignment.



Bookmark the Mobile Services cockpit URL for quick access.




Create a destination to connect to Mobile Services (CF) from SAP Web IDE (Neo)

Since SAP Web IDE Full-Stack is available only in SAP Cloud Platform Neo environment, in order to connect to SAP Cloud Platform Mobile Services running within Cloud Foundry environment, you need to create a new destination.

Go to your SAP Cloud Platform cockpit home page and click the Neo Trial tile.



Click the Destinations button on the left panel.



Click New Destination to open a new destination configuration form and provide the information given below:

·       Name: mobileservices_cf

·       Type: HTTP

·       Description: Mobile Services CF

·       URL: check the note below

·       Proxy Type: Internet

·       Authentication: BasicAuthentication

·       User: SCP user id

·       password: SCP Password

Note: For the URL field, follow these steps:
Go to to your Cloud Foundry => Mobile Services Cockpit
Go to the menu item Important Links and copy from the section of SAP Cloud Platform SDK Tools the link of CopyAdminAPI to your destination.

 



 

Provide below information for the Additional Properties:

·       HandleRedirects: false

·       SkipSSOTokenGenerationWhenNoUser: true

·       WebIDEEnabled: true

·       WebIDEUsage: mobile

Not all the values appear in the drop-down menu. For any values not appearing, type in the name of the property.

Click Save and then click Check Connection on the newly created Destination to see if everything works. 


For the URL field, follow these steps :
Go to to your Cloud Foundry => Mobile Services Cockpit
Go to the menu item Important Links and copy from the section of SAP Cloud Platform SDK Tools the link of CopyAdminAPI to your destination.
